"Meruru and Hikari meet when Meruru finds Hikari's lost pet."

[It's been a long day. Meruru spent all afternoon pulling out weeds. No one should underestimate how hard it is to gather alchemy ingredients. She's got a basket of grass and other stuff there. There's some mud on her skirt too and she doesn't even mind.

Meruru stretches her arms and legs as if she were dancing energetically. ]

[Hikari doesn't even have a pet. He doesn't want one. In general, it's kind of hard to keep a pet when you live underwater!! His sister asked him to walk a friend's cat though, and he couldn't really say no. If he knew that the cat would try to run off on him though, he never would've agreed to this.

When he spots the cat running around Meruru, he calls out.]

Hey, you! Catch that cat there, will you?!

Wha--What's happening? You're freaking out! [This catches her off guard, but anyways that guy's asking for help. LET'S GO CATCH THE CAT.]

Come here kitty!! [Meruru's chasing after it with her hands in front of her.]

Make sure, it doesn't get away—! [Look he's been running after it for a while, so his exhaustion just makes him sound even angrier... Unfortunately, this is one tricky cat!! Will Meruru be able to catch it?!]

[No really. If they keep this up then neither of them will catch the kitten. This is where she's going to put her brilliant mind into action.]

[She's tiring herself out by running so much. When things become drastic they deserve drastic measures. In Meruru's hand she's holding something that looks like a fruit.

When she throws it everything starts to smell bad. Brace yourself for super stinky property fruits Hikari. The cat doesn't stand a chance.]

What the—! [Why is she holding a fruit of all things?? For the cat to eat?! That doesn't seem like a good way to catch a cat's attention, but when she throws it, he suddenly starts hacking. Oh god this is GROSS.]

What the hell did you just throw?! Ugh, this smells!

IT'S TOO STINKY. I'M SORRY KITTY! I DIDN'T MEAN FOR THIS TO HAPPEN. [Meruru's crying so loudly. She killed the cat. SHE KILLED IT.]

Whaa-I thought that giving it might slow it down. [Her eyes are all red from her tears. ]

Okay, okay, I got it! Jeez, don't cry so much.

[He can hardly deal any time a girl he knows in canon cries okay how is he supposed to react to a stranger crying?? This kind of is concerning for the cat though, so while still covering his nose with a hand, he uses his free one to pick up the cat. It's still breathing, so he lets out a sigh.]

That cat's fine. I think you went overboard with that thing, but it'll live.

[She sniffles once.]

Really? That's great!! [Meruru smiles as if she didn't even cry before. She runs up to Hikari and gives him a hug.]

Huh? [OH GOD HE'S GETTING HUGGED BY A STRANGE GIRL WHY. He tries not to get super embarrassed, but. He's super embarrassed. His normal fourteen-year-old heart can't take this okay... So he immediately starts trying to get out of the hug.]

A-Alright, let go already! You're gonna squish the cat like this, y'know?

Okay! [It makes her a bit sad! She'll stop though.]

We don't want to cause the cat anymore trouble.

[letting out a sigh of relief.... and taking a step back...... god that was kind of nerve-wracking he's not good with touchy-feely stuff like that okay.]

I'd say this cat was the one causing trouble. [this is what you get for running off cat, stinky hell...] But thanks for your help. Chasing it around all day would've been awful.

Hahaha! That cat isn't causing trouble. I think Rufus would yell at me for this if he knew what happened.

You really wanna play with it after it made you chase it so much? [meruru... how can you have that kind of optimism.... regardless hikari sighs and holds out the cat.]

Hm... Actually, I dunno. [HIKARI?! AT LEAST ASK ABOUT THE NAME OF THE CAT YOU'RE BABYSITTING!!] Just keep calling it Fuzzy or something.

[UNSURE.... hesitantly, hikari holds out his hands to it, but the cat doesn't seem interested in it. despite her just saying not to scowl so much, he scowls.]
